This was true adventure, we were on our own, no Sherpa support on the climb and no communications. If something went wrong rescue was out of the question as there was no way to get help. We were 100% committed and were on our own, which is the way climbing should be.

After we finished our climb on Pumori, we walked down to Namche Bazaar (the Sherpa capital of the world) to rest and prepare for our next expedition, which was to go over three 20,000 ft passes in winter from the Everest region to Makalu Base Camp. Moving fast and efficiently was extremely important, we only had enough food and cooking...
